Strips of hardwood plywood makes this vaulted ceiling beautiful and unique.

This was a project from a couple years back. I saw a similar idea on a fence using aluminum flashing and thought this would be neat on a higher ceiling. So, when the need came along for a boring ceiling to be updated, I jumped at the chance.

The faux beams came out and the popcorn was stripped off. Then the ceiling was pained black to give any spots you could see through the weaving a shadow look.

Next came the hard part of calculating the spacing and figuring out how to secure the strips of wood. Needless to say, the first row took half a day, but after we figured out the best method, it went a bit smoother. The finished product came out better than we hoped – which is always a good thing!
